Curbside Recycling in Benton Park West?

At present, the nearest recycling depot is located at Jefferson & Pestalozzi, which is inconvenient.

Here are details on curbside recycling service by Earth Circle Recycling:

The cost for curbside recycling service is $50.00 per six months. We collect
once a week and the recycling is single stream, so there is no need to separate
your materials. We would deliver a bin, recycling guide and holiday schedule.

"GREEN BUILDING ANEW"

How can you use the best environmental practices when building new homes? Host Don Fitz and builder Mike Greene look at photos of Sage Near-Zero-Energy homes. They discuss the importance of green building in combating global warming, what is going on in the St. Louis area, and several specifics that go into home construction. This Green Time (No. 268) is produced by the Gateway Greens in conjunction with KDHX. Call 314-727-8554 or contact fitzdon@aol.com for information. See http://stlcamp.org/greentime for a listing of Green Time shows.

Presentation on Rhizome Collective

Presentation given by Don Fitz on 7/23 about his & Barb's visit to Rhizome Collective, located in Austin, TX

More on Rhizome:

Wikipedia calls it a "consensus-run democracy."

Other scattershot notes:
- collective located 2-3miles from downtown, close to region being quickly gentrified. property prices rising rapidly.
- city has 99-98% occupancy
- had to abandon adjacent vacant lot, move chicken coops

Solar Powered Heating

Unsorted info about options for solar-powered heating. Watch this space.

CAMP has a couple 8x8' solar water-heating panels sitting in garage, probably enough capacity for the apartment. (Big heavy things, they are.) We'll will need some sort of crane to raise to roof.

Link for a (very) simple solar-powered heating contraption. Nifty.

Also, attached please find some propaganda from the Energy Star folks about reducing HVAC costs.
