Free After School Resumes!
Part of the Southside University, CAMP's afterschool program will resume 11/19 and run Monday-Thursday 4-7pm. (We're closed on Thanksgiving and the Wednesday before.) We are still seeking community and volunteer support to continue with the program through the Fall.
The overall focus of the program will be on promoting literacy and creativity through child centered reading and writing activities and collaborative art projects. This initial session will also have the theme of Money Management/Basic Economics. We believe that for children to make informed choices about their futures they need to have a basic understanding of the function of money in our society.
In addition, we believe that families and communities should have direct control over the education of their children. Counter to the spirit of recent measures, such as the state takeover of the St. Louis public Schools, we are interested in creating a space in which children, parents and community member can create together learning environments that meet their needs.
