Latinicidad

The impact of the Latino Culture in the US

An immersion workshop - September 27th from 9am to 5pm at Belas Artes

Workshops, Videos, Interview, Food and Music

We are experiencing the impact of the Latino values, products and services
in the mainstream United States. The United States benefits from these
Latino contributions as we eat carne asada and flan and witness how the
Latino workforce fuels the economy.

The front pages of national and local press are covered with charts, graphs
and numbers highlighting the irrefutable fact that the Latino population is
making significant changes in the United States. The U.S. Census documents
this dynamic immigrant movement with data, giving marketers, politicians and
sociologists' information to help them create products and affect U.S.
policy. Raw data gives us a basis for understanding, but to appreciate the
significance of the movement we must go further.

As Latinos integrate into the United States and adopt new ways of living,
the U.S. is embracing a variety of Latino values, styles and language.

Learn how Latino culture and its values provide companies new growth
opportunities in a multicultural world. See how these diverse influences
enrich our lives with presentations by several speakers throughout the day.

Latinicidad will portrait the Hispanic influence in the United States with
overview and discussion on their demographics, social, and economic
characteristics collected from the last Census. The Latino culture is
vibrant, loyal, family-centric, expressive, demonstrative, playful,
fatalistic, romantic, colorful, dramatic, musical, hard working and
courageous. We will show examples of the Latino influences from marketing to
politics to media, combined with interviews from outstanding leaders that
highlight the Latino values that are having an impact in the U.S. today. We
will also showcase the diversity among the Hispanic groups and how their
cultural assimilation determines their behavior.

A great forum for professionals and professors as well as graduate students
who want to not only learn, but understand in what, why and how is the
impact of the Latino culture in the United States.
