6. Announcements:

We covered a lot of ground at the December Greens' meeting and made a good start on developing a focus vision.

These are thoughts people had for the first part of the Green Vision discussion, which were developing broad guidelines for a focus. A Green focus project should:

1. be community-based
2. be global in outlook
3. orient to working class and low income people
4. have a social service/educational component
5. be active and empowering
6. train and develop skills of participants
7. provide political education
8. focus on sustainable living, especially for housing and food
9. be multi-ethnic
10. build on recent Green work (be unique to the Greens)

These are thoughts people had for the second part of the Green Vision discussion, which were suggestions for the content of 2008 activities:

1. food drive with urban gardens any lobbying for a state food stamp program
2. lead initiative with a lawsuit against Slay, federal investigation, involvement of HUD & GAO and lead awareness education
3. development of a food bank
4. homelessness
5. education on the war economy
6. cooking classes
7 public transportation

During the Jan 16 08 business meeting we will get back to concretizing a Green focus, or transforming ideas to a workable plan.
