Humanity is increasingly separated from the land and food that sustain us. Surprisingly, Cuba may be the country that offers the best model for the shortage of energy that will soon haunt the US.
After the fall of the Soviet Union, Cuba was forced to do without massive use of oil. That country adopted a policy of sustainable agriculture with locally grown food.
Today, residents of Havana eat food from urban gardens that are a few blocks away. How can America go beyond Cuba and become even closer to the land?
