CAPCR's campaign for Local Control of the St. Louis Police Department is moving
into Phase 2 with an aldermanic hearing this week. The Public Safety
Committee will meet to discuss a resolution, introduced by the Black
Caucus, supporting Local Control. A good turnout by the community will let
them know that this is an issue we care about. This is the beginning of our
push to bring a united St. Louis to Jefferson City next year. Please come if
you can.

Hungry for some self expression? Would you like to take a bite out of some
performance art? Here's your chance baby. The first EAT @ MadArt happens
this Thursday June 14th. Hotdog! Actually there won't be any hotdogs or
any other food, unless you bring it, but there will be creative people, good
music, experimental film, fire, chalk, great conversation, costumes,
dancers, and whatever else anyone brings to the table.
E.A.T. stands for Experimental art Thursdays and it's your chance to
socialize, collaborate, network and experiment with artists and art

Have you ever wanted to have Ulysses read to you? So you could talk about it at cocktail parties as if you'd actually read it yourself? Now's your chance.
We're hosting Bloomsday this Saturday (June 16) from open to close (11am to 10pm). That means we'll have a slew of folks reading it all day long. It can take up to 36 hours to accomplish so we're only taking part in a sliver of it, but after we close the folks involved will be moving it on to a late-night environ, probably involving Guinness.

Getting the Real Story: skillsharing for investigative journalism & Words Found Here: space for reading and writing exploration
This ongoing class will evolve based on the desires of the participants. It will alternate weekly between "Getting the Story" a cooperative and practical skill-share for people interested in investigative journalism and "Words Found Here" a chance for writers to come together to share work for constructive critique and exploration of creative resources including READING! The first session June 28th will begin with "Getting the Story," sharing skills for investigative journalism. The 2nd session on 7/5 will be "Words Found Here," sharing skills for creative writing. Journalism and creative writing workshops will alternate weekly.
