CAMP Computer Lab & Resources

Donated monitorsIn keeping with CAMP's mission to be a community media center, we are working to provide computer and internet-related resources to our neighbors. In particular, we hope to provide the following in our public space:
  • Free wifi
  • Public, Ubuntu-based computer lab with Internet access
  • Digital literacy classes (e.g. email basics, writing resumes, online publishing)
  • Internet phone service (e.g. VoIP)
  • Similar to SWEAT, programs to refurbish an old computer and take it home

You can see pictures of our progress on the computer lab here.

P.S. Do you have computer equipment that you would like to donate? We are a registered 501.3(c) non-profit, so sure, we'd be delighted to take that old iron off your hands. Here is a list of what we're looking for. Please contact us for more details.

For equipment that is too old to be salvageable, we'd strongly recommend you use a local electronics reprocessing center to ensure proper disposal. Computers, monitors, printers, etc. all contain metal & plastic that are easy to recycle, along with hazardous materials that must be reclaimed appropriately. We may not be able to help the fact that electronics go quickly obsolete, but we can easily prevent this from becoming an environmental problem too.
